Originating out of the remains of low-profile Midlands-based Psychobilly outfit the Stench, LUNA VEGAS finally released their debut long-playing record on Western Star in 2008. Heavily influenced by the cream of the 1980s Psychobilly circuit, the trio recreates a traditional Psychobilly sound that´s universally labelled as "old school“ these days. The thirteen track affair doesn't reinvent the wheel, but strong sound, authentic musicianship and an excellent production complete a highly rockin´ album, that makes you going mental. Highlights are Freddie Depth-Charge, Haunted Train, Johnny Shine and Swamp Surf.
Doggedly spreading the word of classic Psychobillymusic is LUNA VEGAS with their Second Shot ... Cuckoo Clock. The revamped trio again demonstrates their skills with a fat slapped double bass, healthy twangy guitar, traditional horror movie based lyrics and tight sound. Saying all that, the twelve-track CD remains strictly original with decreasing influences to make out and the exclusion of any cover versions. My favourite tunes are Mummy's Curse, The Raven and their re-recordings of Jungle Pot and Loft Lurker, that were originally out on Western Star Psychobillies 3.
